I am a piñata

It all started when I was sitting on the dusty old shelf in the small town grocery store. I had been sitting there for about two weeks. All of the other piñatas would make fun of me because of my lack of bright colors. I was an elephant, so I was only grey with a blue outline to accentuate my curves. I was beginning to lose all hope. I thought nobody would want me.
Just then something strange happened. A human walked up to our shelf. She looked at all the different possibilities she had to choose from and chose me. She actually chose me. I was so full of excitement as she brought me to the car. I now had a new family, and a new home. I dozed off into a deep sleep.
When I woke up, to my surprise, I was hanging from a tree. I felt a lot heavier than I usually did. I felt like I had gained around eight pounds. I was so distracted by my quick weight gain that I did not even realize the army of children staring into my soul. One of them was holding a bat. I was not ready.
After a long silence, the kid with the bat ran toward me and hit my side as hard as he could. I felt anguish rushing through my body. I could feel my insides slowly falling out until a little girl hit me with all of her force and sliced me in half. My insides were spread all over the ground. The last thing I remembered seeing was all of the children running around me and playing with my insides. I hope my tragedy was the last for my species. I could not bare seeing this happen to anyone else.
